Draw up a pattern

The pattern shown here was drawn from the treasures of Shosoin, which were introduced from the continent in the 8th century and are kept in the Shosoin Repository. This pattern, consisting of nine circles, eight around the periphery and one in the center, is called kuyo-mon or hoshi-mon, and has been used since ancient times as a family crest for star-reading. The crests, which were used to decipher the truth of the universe from the stars of the celestial bodies, traveled along the Silk Road to Japan, either on Buddhist or silk. The crests have been carefully preserved as works of art that tell of history, or they have been handed down from ancestors as family crests that protect the family.

Words that touch my heart

Architecture creates an organism. Therefore, this organism must have laws that conform to the laws of nature.Originality is a return to the origins.History, nature and geometryGaudi's words sparkle like jewels, shining light on creators like us.Life is about trying to achieve something, falling down again and again, but getting up and walking again. He knew the diamond that resides in something that has taken a long time to create through repeated prototyping. At the end of his life, Gaudi stumbled and fell and never got up again, but he probably already had a vision of the beautiful Sagrada Familia to be completed. I keep painting the water Mandala.Until I find something.

An installation of gold leaf

An installation of gold leaf that I started to create to recreate a landscape that I had seen in a dream. The gold leaf, which is cut and discarded in the textile manufacturing process, is the leaf that is woven into the weave. It is about 5 to 15 cm long. I wanted to recreate the look of this gold and silver leaf falling from the sky by hand binding it about 8,000 times.I want to continue to create new things with modern technology and link them to the future. AWAI's creations, carefully woven with reliable materials and techniques, will not lose their beauty in 100 years. My mission is to create a space where new creations and discarded objects exist together,...
